Cal.com is open source and can be self-hosted. If owning the code matters — for compliance, for control, or on principle — that is a real advantage and we do not offer it.
The cost is that somebody has to run it: updates, backups, the database, the queue, the mail. For a barber shop that is not a trade-off, it is a second job.
Cal.com is excellent at meetings, routing and developer integration. What it is not built for is the counter: deposits held against balances, stock decremented by the quantity sold, an invoice numbered in sequence, commission clawed back proportionally when you refund.
If your appointments end with money changing hands and something being sold, that gap is the whole gap.
